Jay Rogers

FOUNDER & PRESIDENT

Jay Rogers is an investment management professional and entrepreneur with over two decades in the financial services industry. His financial background began with a career on the sell side with such firms as Morgan Stanley, Wells Fargo and Bear Stearns. He later worked as Chief Investment Officer for a family office and made his transition to the buy side with a long only growth equity manager. For several years he also worked for an independent third party marketing firm raising money in both traditional and alternative asset classes. Alpha Strategies was formed through a group of highly experienced investment professionals with a shared belief that boutique investment managers as well as qualified investors are still underserved in their access to deep domain expertise in alternative investments generating consistently high levels of “pure” alpha. It has since grown into a diversified financial services company with specialties in alternative investment consulting, management and marketing.

Jay is a trusted advisor to several family offices and is instrumental in syndicating private investment opportunities among family offices and institutional investors nationwide. These opportunities include real estate, private equity, and venture capital.

Jay acts as advisor to several Native American Tribal Nations in the area of economic development and investment opportunities. An advocate for tribal independence he has provided financial solutions to several tribes and is the founder of the Native Made Foundation, championing the purchase of goods and services originating on Native American Reservations.

Jay is also a frequent speaker at industry events on family office and alternative investment issues. He has appeared on CNN’s Your Money and is frequently quoted and interviewed for financial publications including the Wall Street Journal, Bloomberg News and NPR. He has presented to audiences at IMN, Opal Financial, IvyPlus, World Research Congress, Alternative Assets Summit and other investment conferences around the country. Jay is also a guest lecturer at USC Marshall School of Business. Jay also provides expert witness testimony for litigation involving securities industry issues.

Jay holds a BS from Northeastern University and is also a graduate of the USMC Officer Candidate School in Quantico, VA. He holds multiple securities licenses and has completed professional courses in Advanced Estate Planning, Asset Allocation, and Retirement Planning. He is a member of the CFA Institute and the CFA Society of Orange County (CFAOC). Currently residing in Ladera Ranch with his wife and three sons, he is active in his local community as President of the Board of Directors for Ladera Ranch Community Services (LARCS), a community services organization. Mr. Rogers is also an Assistant Scoutmaster for Boy Scout Troop 636 and is a member of the National Eagle Scout Association and the Order of the Arrow.

William Valladolid

Managing Partner

William Valladolid oversees the financial advisory group within Alpha Strategies Investment Consulting. William Bill Valladolid has spent the last 20 years of his career providing services as a financial advisor, corporate cash manager, and investment banking. He began his financial career in 1997 as an intern at Bear Stearns in San Francisco following his graduation from the University of San Francisco. At Bear Stearns, William helped manage a portfolio of $1 BN. His clients were some of Silicon Valley’s largest technology companies. He transferred to CIBC Oppenheimer in 2000 and was with Merrill Lynch from 2010 to 2015. During his career William has worked in San Francisco, New York, and London. In 2015, William was recruited to Morgan Stanley. He was instrumental in sourcing investment banking deals for the investment banking division of Morgan Stanley.

William is a multi-disciplinary, intergenerational, planning focused financial professional. Along with the team and all available resources at Alpha Strategies, he partnered with legal minds, asset managers, and tax professionals to help implement comprehensive financial planning strategies that aim to meet your specific goals, solve your toughest problems, and maximize your Net Wealth! He looks at the whole picture, not just a singular account, incorporating your closely held business, real estate, private equity/investment opportunities, alternative hedging and insurance strategies to build out what we believe is true diversity.

As a private investment consultant, William’s Alpha Strategies team consists of senior experts with an adequate mix of technology, valuation, M&A, managerial and turnaround experience, and in-depth cultural understanding of entrepreneurs. He has provided and performed investment management restructuring and recapitalization services in the past, to both middle market financial service providers and companies.

Family and friends are very important to William, especially his children. When spare time presents itself, he can be found running, surfing, and training.

Mike Knowles

Managing Director

Mr. Knowles oversees the Real Estate group within Alpha Strategies. In this capacity he is responsible for the sourcing, diligence and closing of real estate transactions for our investors in multi-family, commercial, senior living, medical, industrial, self-storage, and land acquisitions. Prior to Alpha Strategies Mike was the founder and President of Strategic Capital, an active player in a broad range of real estate acquisition, development and financing strategies.

Mr. Knowles’ core competencies are the sourcing, selling and diligence of land and real estate. He has a deep transactional history and understanding of the closing process.

Mr. Knowles has been a licensed California real estate broker and land developer for 35 years. In various companies controlled by him, he has been involved in transactions totaling over $750 Million in sales throughout the western U.S. He has worked for or consulted for many major national and international banks, pension funds, major opportunity funds, large landowners, major merchant homebuilders, and equity investors on all types of real estate development projects.

Strategic Capital has also raised capital for and expanded market penetration for a number of companies in the healthcare, renewable energy, software and water filtration sectors.

In addition, Mr. Knowles serves in an advisory capacity to several private companies, including a Board Advisor for ReCreation Management Solutions, a private high net worth estate management and consulting firm based in Rancho Mirage, California.

Mr. Knowles graduated from Stanford University in 1979 with a degree in Political Science, and from La Jolla High School in 1975. He resides in San Diego, California with his wife Monica, a USC graduate.

Christina Whittle

Chief Marketing Officer

Christina Whittle is results driven marketing strategist and entrepreneur with twenty plus years in marketing, strategy and growth experience with iconic companies and clients ranging from Canon, Dolce and Gabbana, to Stanley and UCLA.  She is a proven leader and developer of talent, with a strong consumer intuition and a love for analytics and intelligence.  She is highly driven to seek out ROI-minded business optimizations and thinks fluidly to tackle challenges.  Christina’s a business builder with high-performing teams and understands the dynamics of scaling domestic and global growth.  She’s a spirited architect of product releases, with strength in brand growth, awareness and positioning plus the acquisition and retention of customers.

Christina is a go-to strategist among an international network of family offices.  She connects the dots, the people and the business opportunities.

She advises many entrepreneurs and start-ups and has attended numerous tech summits and conferences over the years.  She finds her interests pull her towards tech intelligence and tech for good and nature.  Christina is also an advisor for St. Margret’s Center an affiliate of the Los Angeles diocese, where she advises for major fundraising campaigns, charitable donations and the annual toy drive serving over 700 families.

Christina graduated from Western Oregon University and completed graduate classes at the Universidad del las Americas – Puebla in Applied Linguistics.  She currently resides in Phoenix, Arizona with her three children and frequents their place in Playa del Rey, California regularly.

Randy Mariman

Consultant

Mr. Mariman began his career as an investment consultant on the retail side with such firms as Merrill Lynch, Smith Barney, and Raymond James & Associates.  He then joined Prime Asset Management as a Partner where he became an NFLPA Agent, negotiating contracts with the NFL Players Association and helping athletes with tax and financial planning.

He then joined Advanced Investment Technology as Director of Sales. Responsibilities included raising assets through retail and institutional channels.  Creating a business strategy, marketing materials, and presentations designed to illustrate complicated non-linear quantitative artificial intelligence based portfolio strategies.  While at AIT a strategic alliance was formed with State Street Global Advisors allowing the firm to design and manage quantitative management strategies for institutional clients around the world.

As President and CEO, Randy launched Concentric Capital Partners as a marketing and consulting firm. Developed to serve both retail and institutional money managers, private equity firms, and corporate entities.  Designed to raise assets, and open distribution channels in both institutional and retail areas, and conduct marketing assessments, both strategic and tactical.  Mr. Mariman has been retained to work with dozens of firms, including SSGA, ING, and Home Depot.

At Alpha Strategies he helps with due diligence, manager research and consults with clients on sports ventures and private investment strategies.

He has worked with several charities and served on non-profit boards. Primarily focusing in the areas of underprivileged and at-risk youth and families.
